Artist Dis-Placement 02: Alona Rodeh at Berliner Feuerwehr

Placement 02:

Beginning in September 2016, visual artist Alona Rodeh will start her Artist Dis-Placement at the Berliner Feuerwehr (The Berlin Fire Brigade). Alona is an Israeli artist based in Berlin. Her current work and research are focused on the growing audiovisual presence of safety in the city, and its diffusion into popular cultural aesthetics. Safe and Sound, her ongoing meta-project beginning in 2014, led her to the Berlin Fire Brigade. Accompanying the fire fighters for a period of 6 months, her research will focus on the training facilities and workout regime, the daily routines at the station, and fire control itself.  Through this research, Alona’s aim is to create a new collaborative work within the organization, focusing on new challenging missions, enabling the firefighters to try new techniques stretching their limits of abilities. Ideally, this will be an event that will spark interest in the wide audience, as well as the members of the organization itself.

About Artist Dis-Placement:

The Idea of the Artist Dis-Placement programm is to connect artists to organisations which are not situated in the classical context of the art-sphere in order  to reach a different engagement and an audience which is not naturally in contact with art. ZK/U aims to look at the ‘invisible’ communal services provided by a city. Through the Artist Dis-Placement the ZK/U is extending its actions to the central organisations of the city’s infrastructure.
